I am wondering why it is that coaching and therapy sessions normally take place indoors.  Certainly this creates a more controlled environment which has obvious benefits if it's raining, but if we are trying to encourage open awareness, connection to ourselves and to nature, should we not ideally be in the great outdoors?

At my farm I am developing various nature-based trails and activities that encourage mindful observation, listening and sensing to maximise the benefits that nature provides in restoring our attention.  I like the idea of the open expansiveness of the external landscape influencing the internal landscape of our minds.  Or to put it another way, bringing people into a state of Open Awareness by filling the periphery of their senses with the sights, sounds and smells of nature.  And at this time of year, with so much fruit in the hedgerows, maybe it's possible to bring the attention to taste as well.  A mindful foraging trail perhaps?
