Starlights Creative Club
“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”
– Nelson Mandela
Starlights Creative Club (SCC) was founded by Naomi Kieswetter to drive humanitarian initiatives with the purpose of creating joy in the hearts of those who are met with daily challenges; individuals in emotional and physical pain who often struggle to survive every day.
SCC’s intention is to combine the efforts of a group of women, including women who themselves are resident in old aged homes by putting their hands together in labours of love making items which have been crocheted, knitted and hand stitched.
Our mission is to:
- Share our love
- Use our own inner resources to create
- Give to those who are in need
- Create, to play and to bring joy

Winter Beanies and Scarves, handmade by the members of the Starlights Creative Club, are being distributed for the kids in Klapmuts, a disadvantaged community in the Paarl district (Western Cape, South Africa). Most of these kids are from extremely difficult homes where parents are “absent” due to substance abuse, domestic violence and crime. This initiative also included teaching the kids simple breathing techniques and open awareness skills to help them when they feel stressed and anxious.

Throughout the year – “Naomi’s Tea Emporium”.
“Naomi’s Tea Emporium” at markets around Cape Town
Naomi Kieswetter and helpers have a tea and cake table at various markets around Cape Town for the purpose of raising funds for SCC.
At their market stands they also promote awareness of the importance and value of education, given the high unemployment rate, as well as the socio-economic challenges in South Africa.

Initiatives in 2017:
Kensington Old Aged Home (July)
In celebration of the Mandela Month of Giving; NTD donated knee blankets, bed socks and beanies to the seniors at Kensington Old Aged Home.
Mandela Day calls on us all, every day, to make the world a better place. In South Africa each year on 18 July, the birthday of Nelson Mandela, we look back on what has been done, and forward to what will be done.
Making every day a Mandela Day celebrates Madiba’s life and legacy in a sustainable way that will bring about enduring change.
